Why Men Need a Skincare Routine
If the extent of your skincare is splashing water on your face and hoping for the best, you are not alone. But a basic skincare routine is not about vanity. 2. Moisturize: Even oily skin needs moisture. When you skip moisturizer, your skin may overcompensate by producing even more oil. Choose a lightweight, oil-free gel moisturizer for oily skin, or a richer cream for dry skin. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid for hydration and ceramides to strengthen the skin barrier.
3. Protect (morning only): Sunscreen is the single most effective anti-aging product available. UV damage causes wrinkles, dark spots, and loss of firmness. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning, even on cloudy days. Many modern sunscreens are lightweight and do not leave a white cast or greasy feel.
What to Add Later
Once you have maintained the three-step routine for at least a month, you can consider adding targeted treatments. An exfoliant used 2-3 times per week helps unclog pores and smooth skin texture. If you are concerned about signs of aging, a retinol serum at night can improve fine lines and skin tone over time. But resist the urge to buy everything at once. Start simple, be consistent, and let your skin adjust.
